The Ixworth is a period wall light with a clear prismatic glass bell, the kind once seen in schools, railway stations and old dairies. The glass is moulded with a fine grid of ridges that breaks up the bulb's glare and makes the whole shade glitter when it is lit, while still letting plenty of light through.

The bell is 14.5 cm across and hangs from a knurled lamp holder at the end of a straight arm with a swivel joint, so you can angle the shade towards a bed, a shelf or a doorway. Choose antique brass for warmth in a cottage or Victorian home, or black for a crisper, workshop look against white walls. A pair either side of a bed or above open kitchen shelves looks especially good.

The light reaches about 26 cm from the wall and is about 25.5 cm tall, on a round 12 cm wall plate. It takes one E27 bulb, not included; a warm white LED bulb of around 2700K suits the glass. It is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains and dry indoor rooms, to be installed by a qualified electrician.

Chosen for the finish

We choose each design for how its surface handles light: natural travertine, brushed brass, aged bronze or ribbed glass. The finish is part of the design, not an afterthought.

Built for real rooms

We design for homes that get lived in, not showrooms that get photographed. Warm, unobtrusive light. A scale that suits an ordinary ceiling. Finishes that age rather than wear out.

Frequently asked questions

What is prismatic glass?

Prismatic glass is moulded with a fine grid of ridges, as in old school and railway lights. The ridges break up the glare of the bulb and make the shade sparkle, while still letting plenty of light through.

Can I angle the shade?

Yes. A swivel joint at the end of the arm lets you tilt the shade towards a bed, a shelf or a doorway.

Can it go in a bathroom?

It has no IP rating, so keep it to dry rooms such as bedrooms, kitchens, hallways and landings. For a bathroom, choose a light rated IP44 or higher.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes. Every order ships free, with no minimum spend. Full detail is in our Shipping Policy.

Will I receive tracking information for my order?

Yes. As soon as your order ships we email your tracking number, and you can follow it any time on our Order Tracking Page.

What is your return policy timeframe?

You have 30 days from the day your order arrives. Full terms are in our Refund Policy.

Do I pay a restocking fee?

No. There are no restocking fees. See our Refund Policy.

What if my item is damaged or defective?

Damaged, defective or incorrect items are free to return. See our Refund Policy.
