The Helmingham is a 40 cm picture light in the gallery tradition: a slim aluminium tube in brushed gold or matte black with a soft white diffuser along its underside, carried on two slim arms from a neat rectangular wall box (straight arms on the gold, gently curved arms on the black). It runs on a built in 4400 mAh rechargeable battery, so there is no wiring and no cable on the wall: screw the mounting plate above the frame and hang the light on it.

It charges by USB-C in about four hours (cable included) and gives about 14 hours of light at full brightness, and longer when dimmed. The remote switches it on and off, dims it, sets it to a warm 3000K, neutral 4500K or cool 6000K white, and has a 15, 30 or 60 minute timer so it switches itself off; there is also an on and off button on the light itself.

The bar turns, so you can angle the light down across the picture rather than out into the room. At 40 cm it suits frames from about 60 to 100 cm wide, and it works just as well over a mirror, a bookcase or a run of shelves. Ideal for period rooms, rented homes and any wall without a wiring point.
