The Ufford is a small pendant light with a bud shaped shade of ribbed glass: 12 cm across, with rounded ribs running down to a softly scalloped hem. When it is lit the ribs glow in bands of colour, deep sage green or warm honey amber, and the light falls softly downwards; in daylight the glass still shows its colour against the ceiling.
It measures 18 cm from the top of the brass lamp holder to the hem, and the holder has its own turn switch. The twisted gold coloured cord can be set to any length up to 150 cm. The small size suits places where a bigger shade would crowd the room: a pair hung low either side of a bed, a row of three over a kitchen island, a landing, a cloakroom or a small hallway.
It takes one E27 bulb, which is not included; a warm white filament or LED bulb of around 2200 to 2700K suits the glass best. It is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains with a 10 cm round ceiling rose, to be installed by a qualified electrician.
