The Orford is a small flush ceiling light with a cone shaped shade of leaded glass: a top row of clear textured glass, then rows of soft cream and pale blush opal glass, set in dark leading with a beaded trim along its gently scalloped rim. Lit, it glows warmly like a little lantern, a classic look for cottages, period hallways and arts and crafts style homes.

It sits close to the ceiling, about 16 cm deep, so it suits hallways, landings and low or beamed ceilings. The shade is 18 cm wide on a round brass finish ceiling plate.

It takes one E27 bulb, which is not included, and it is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains.

Orford stained glass flush ceiling light glowing in a cottage hallway with a beamed ceiling

A cottage hallway glow

Under a low beamed ceiling, the leaded glass glows warmly and softly, a gentle welcome as you come in.

Soft light on the landing

At the top of the stairs it gives a soft, warm light that suits period woodwork and prints.

Chosen for the finish

We choose each design for how its surface handles light: natural travertine, brushed brass, aged bronze or ribbed glass. The finish is part of the design, not an afterthought.

Built for real rooms

We design for homes that get lived in, not showrooms that get photographed. Warm, unobtrusive light. A scale that suits an ordinary ceiling. Finishes that age rather than wear out.

Frequently asked questions

Is it good for a low ceiling?

Yes. It sits about 16 cm from the ceiling, so it suits hallways, landings and cottages with low or beamed ceilings.

Is a bulb included?

No, plan on one E27 bulb. A warm white bulb of around 2700K suits the cream and blush glass.

How bright is it?

The leaded glass softens the light, so it gives a warm, gentle glow rather than bright task light. In a larger room, use it alongside other lights or choose a brighter bulb.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes. Every order ships free, with no minimum spend. Full detail is in our Shipping Policy.
