The Ely is a classic schoolhouse light: an opal milk glass shade with a stepped profile, held below a vintage style lamp holder and a round ceiling plate. It brings the gentle, even light of an old English schoolroom into hallways, kitchens, landings and bedrooms.
The opal glass hides the bulb and spreads a soft, glare free glow. With a total drop of about 26 cm it sits close to the ceiling, so it suits the lower ceilings of cottages, terraces and new builds. Choose an antique brass finish for warmth, or black for a crisper look.
The glass shade is 22 cm across. It takes one E27 bulb, not included, and a warm white LED bulb is the best match for the milk glass. It is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains.
