The Dennington is a country style pendant with a white ceramic dome shade, 22 cm across, finished with a softly scalloped lower edge. Rows of small leaf and dot shapes are pierced right through the ceramic, so when it is lit the shade glows and scatters tiny points of warm light onto the walls and ceiling around it, while the open base sends the main light down onto the table below.
The shade has a matte, gently glazed finish and is made by hand, so the piercing and the scallops vary very slightly from one shade to the next. Above it sit a brass finish lamp holder cup and an ornate cast hanging loop, on a twisted rust brown braided fabric cord that runs up to a 10 cm round ceiling rose. The drop can be set during installation, up to about 140 cm from the ceiling to the bottom of the shade.
Hang one over a kitchen table, a pair over a breakfast bar, or one low beside the bed in a cottage bedroom. It takes one E27 bulb, not included; a warm white LED bulb suits it best and stays cool inside the ceramic. It is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains, to be installed by a qualified electrician.
