The Ely swan neck is a classic period wall light: a round stepped wall plate, a gently curved gooseneck arm and a gallery holding a stepped opal milk glass schoolhouse shade. It is the swan neck version of the Ely wall light, so it sits happily alongside the Ely ceiling light, pendant and vanity light in one scheme.
The milk glass hides the bulb and spreads a soft, even light with no glare, which suits a cottage kitchen above open shelves, a hallway or landing, or the wall beside a bed. Choose an antique brass finish for warmth, or matt black for a crisper look against white or dark painted walls.
The glass shade is 20 cm wide and 16 cm deep. The light stands 26 cm tall, reaches about 25 cm from the wall and fixes to a round 12 cm wall plate. It takes one E27 bulb, not included, and it is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains, to be installed by a qualified electrician.
