The Wilby is a pendant light with a handmade ceramic shade: a wide coolie in a speckled cream glaze, painted with blue daisies and finished with a fine blue line at the rim and a warm brown band at the top. It hangs from a brass finish lamp holder with a small turn switch on the side, on a twisted cord.
Each shade is made by hand, so the painting and the glaze vary a little from one to the next, which gives it the look of country pottery. The light shines down from under the shade in a warm pool, so it works well over a kitchen table, an island or a worktop, on its own or in a row, and it suits cottages, farmhouse kitchens and breakfast rooms.
The shade is about 20 cm wide, and the shade and holder stand about 16 cm tall. The cord adjusts up to 150 cm and the round ceiling plate is 10 cm across. It takes one E27 bulb, which is not included, and it is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains, to be installed by a qualified electrician.
