The Ely pendant is a classic schoolhouse light: a stepped opal milk glass shade, 22 cm across, hung from a knurled lamp holder on a black cloth cord. It is the pendant version of the Ely ceiling and wall lights, so a kitchen, dining room and hallway can share one look.
The opal glass hides the bulb and spreads a soft, glare free light, which matters over a kitchen island or a dining table, where you look up at the light. The cord is adjustable up to about 180 cm, so the shade can hang at the right height over a worktop or table, under a standard ceiling or a tall one. Choose an antique brass finish for warmth, or black for a crisper look against pale or dark walls.
The glass shade is 22 cm wide and 14 cm deep, and the round 12 cm ceiling plate matches the finish. It takes one E27 bulb, not included; a warm white LED bulb suits the milk glass best. It is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains, to be installed by a qualified electrician.

How long is the cord?
The black cloth cord is adjustable up to about 180 cm, and the lamp holder and shade add about 20 cm. Over an island or a table, the bottom of the shade usually sits 70 to 85 cm above the surface.
Is a bulb included?
No. It takes one standard E27 bulb. A warm white LED bulb of around 2700K suits the milk glass best and keeps the shade cool. Choose a dimmable bulb if it will be on a dimmer switch.
