The Friston is a semi flush ceiling light shaped like a wide open flower: a shade of clear fluted glass, 22 cm across, with a softly waved rim that flares out at the edge, held on a short antique brass finish stem under a round 10 cm ceiling plate. It hangs just 18 cm from the ceiling, so it suits low cottage ceilings, landings and bedrooms where a pendant would be in the way.
Lit, the flutes throw a pattern of light and shade across the ceiling and the clear glass sparkles rather than colours the light, so the room stays bright. It pairs well with the Hadleigh and Dunwich ceiling lights in clear glass, and with any of the brass finish pendants in the shop.
It takes one E27 bulb, not included; a 6 to 8 W warm white LED globe suits the clear glass best. It is a hardwired fitting for standard UK mains, to be installed by a qualified electrician.
